श्रीमद् भागवत के ह्रदय स्थल “रास पंचाध्यायी” में कृष्ण मन, प्राण, आत्मा, वाणी और इंद्रियों से रमण करते हैं| नाना प्रकार के रसों का प्रवाह जहां एकत्रित हो एकत्रित हो ,उसे रास कहते हैं| भगवान श्री कृष्ण कृष्ण ने महारास की रस वृष्टि से समस्त ब्रजमंडल को रसोप्लावित कर कृष्ण ने गोपियों को महारास का का दान किया|
शरद पूर्णिमा के दिवस पर जब श्री कृष्ण गोपियों के संग अद्भुत एवं अलौकिक महारास में लीन थे तब गोपीयों को सौभाग्य मद का प्रमाद उत्पन्न हुआ| श्री कृष्ण गोपियों को अभिमान दोष से निवृत करने हेतु करने हेतु महारास से अंतर्ध्यान हो गए |अपने बीच श्रीकृष्ण को न पाकर गोपियां भावविभोर होकर प्रेम विरह की वेदना में श्रीकृष्ण को पुकारती हैं|
अनंत गोपीयों के एक स्वर में एक भाव से पुकारे जाने वाले अर्पित शब्द प्रवाह को ही गोपी गीत कहा जाता है |गोपी गीत प्रमोन्मत बने भक्तों की अलौकिक वाणी है जिसमें गोपियां मन कर्म और वचन से कृष्णमयी हो गई हैं और उनका कृष्ण के प्रति अनन्य प्रेम अलौकिक शब्द रस बनकर गोपी गीत के रूप में प्रकट हुआ|
When was Gopi Geet sung?
In “Raas Panchadhyayi”, the heart of Shrimad Bhagwat, Krishna rejoices with the mind, life, soul, speech and senses. Where the flow of different types of rasas get collected, it is called rasa. Lord Shri Krishna Krishna, after flooding the entire Brajmandal with the rain of Maharas, Krishna donated Maharas to the Gopis. On the day of Sharad Purnima,
when Shri Krishna was engrossed in the wonderful and supernatural Maharas with the gopis, then the gopis were in awe of good fortune. Shri Krishna meditated with Maharas to make the gopis free from the fault of pride.
Not finding Shri Krishna in their midst, the gopis cry out to Shri Krishna in the agony of love separation. The flow of offering words chanted with one voice by infinite gopis is called Gopi Geet. Gopi Geet is the supernatural speech of the ecstatic devotees in which the Gopis have become Krishnamayi by mind, action and speech and their unrequited love for Krishna. The supernatural word became juice and appeared in the form of Gopi Geet.
